SELK Neurology Network

Overview

Launched in 2025, the South East London and Kent Neurology Network aims to improve care and experience for people living with central and peripheral nervous system conditions.
Neurological disorders affect 1 in 6 people in the UK. The network is working to make care more consistent, coordinated, and equitable across the region.

The priorities for the Neurology Network for 2026/27 are:

  • Ensuring equitable access to general and specialised neurology
  • Transforming the full patient pathway with clinician led design
  • Aligning services and population health across SEL and Kent NHS trusts and ICSs
  • Repatriating patients when safe, so care is closer to home
  • Using data to drive continuous improvement in outcomes and quality

The priorities for the Neurology Network for 2026/27 are:

  • Epilepsy (including access to diagnostics)
  • General neurology
  • Movement disorders

Why these priorities?

These conditions were chosen as 2026/27 priorities because:

  • They affect a significant number of our neurology patients
  • Emergency admissions are often preventable with timely, coordinated care
  • Their management involves the full care pathway — from community services to specialist support at King’s College Hospital
  • Early intervention can make a measurable difference in outcomes and quality of life

We are currently seeking further engagement from primary care providers, Nursing teams, AHPs and Neurology clinicians across South East London & Kent.
