Neurosurgery Clinical Networks were created to support the delivery of five key areas of improvement in the quality and equity of care and outcomes of their population, present and future:
- reducing inappropriate referrals and therefore reduce demand and increasing capacity
- improving flow across the pathway and system
- improving theatre efficiency
- improving emergency pathways and communication with referring centres
- improving safety, outcomes, and experience for patients.
2026/27 priorities
- Optimise the neurovascular pathway
- Revise South East London and Kent Regional Repatriation agreement
- Improved triage and referral processes notably including advice and guidance/working with GPs.
- Data quality improvement initiative to develop an integrated Neurosurgery South Thames dashboard
- Host National EC/IC (Extracranial to Intracranial)Bypass ( a neurosurgical procedure to reroute blood flow to the brain) national MDT
